How it works
From the first enquiry to regular lessons and progress notes: what happens at each step, which tools we use, and how lessons fit the Qatari week.
Five steps
You tell us about the learner: curriculum or course, exam board, year group, grade or level, subjects, goals and the times that suit you. It takes a few minutes, in English or Arabic.
We choose a tutor who teaches that curriculum and exam board at that level, in the language you prefer. A Cambridge IGCSE Physics learner is matched with a tutor who knows the Cambridge papers. You receive the lesson agreement, in Arabic and English, before the first lesson is booked.
The tutor gets to know the learner, finds out where they stand in the subject, and agrees the first targets with them, and with a parent when the learner is young.
Lessons follow a steady timetable, usually on the same days each week and with the same tutor. The tutor plans each one from the targets and from the learner’s schoolwork.
The tutor sends regular notes on what was covered, what went well and what to practise next, so the learner, or a parent for a younger learner, can follow the work and raise questions early.
Tools
Lessons run on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, and all three work on connections in Qatar. We agree one platform with each learner and keep to it.
Screen sharing and a shared whiteboard, in the app or in a browser.
Opens in a browser with a Google account, with nothing to install on a laptop.
A good fit when a school or workplace already uses Teams for classes, homework or meetings.
WhatsApp voice and video calls are often unreliable on networks in Qatar, so we keep WhatsApp for short messages, such as a reminder or a change of time, and hold every lesson on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
At home
A larger screen gives room for diagrams, past papers and shared notes. A phone is enough for a short check-in.
The ones built into the device are fine. A headset with a microphone helps in a busy home.
Home broadband or fibre works best. When several people at home stream video at once, lessons run more smoothly with the learner close to the router.
Maths and science learners often need to show their working. A tablet with a stylus, or a phone camera pointed at the page, lets the tutor see each step.
Lessons for children take place in a shared room of the home, such as the living room or a study with the door open.
The week and the clock
School in Qatar runs from Sunday to Thursday, and the weekend is Friday and Saturday. We plan lessons around that week: after school or after work on weekdays, and at the weekend for learners who prefer it.
Every lesson time we send is in Qatar time (Asia/Qatar, UTC+3). Qatar keeps the same time all year, so a lesson at 5:00 pm stays at 5:00 pm in every season, wherever the tutor is based.
Exams shape the year too. Share your school’s calendar with us and the tutor plans revision ahead of mid-term and final exams.
Safety for children
These rules apply to every lesson with a learner under 18, and every tutor agrees to them before teaching.
Parents may join any lesson, for part of it or all of it, and may end a lesson at any moment if something feels wrong.
Children take lessons in a shared space at home, with an adult nearby. Tutors teach from a quiet, neutral setting with their camera on.
Tutors contact learners only through the lesson platform and the channels agreed with the parent. They never ask children for personal phone numbers, social media accounts or private chats.
A lesson is recorded only when the parent and the tutor have both agreed beforehand.
Tutor and learner dress and speak as they would at school. Any concern goes straight to Edunest through the contact route, and we act on it.
Ramadan
In Ramadan, school and working hours are shorter and evenings take a different shape. Many learners prefer lessons earlier in the afternoon or after iftar. Tell us what suits you and we adjust the timetable for the month.
Some learners prefer shorter lessons during Ramadan, and some pause for the Eid holiday. Lesson dates around Eid follow the official announcement in Qatar.
