Edunest arranges online IB MYP tutoring in mathematics, sciences and English for students in MYP 1 to 5. Every lesson is live, with your child and one tutor, timed around the Qatari school week. The IB lists cells, metabolism, evolution, atomic structure and bonding, states of matter, forces, waves and electromagnetism among its on-screen science topics, taught as separate sciences or integrated units.

Learners write a testable question and reasoned hypothesis, plan a fair method with controlled variables, then graph their data and conclude. Evaluation and improvements are usually the thinnest part.

Criterion D asks how a scientific development affects society, the economy or the environment, in extended writing with sources named. Listing facts without weighing them stays in the lower bands.

Close reading of literary and non-literary texts, commentary on a writer's choices, structured essays and creative pieces. The four criteria cover analysing, organising ideas, producing text and using language accurately.

For learners still building their English, courses run in six phases with criteria for listening, reading, speaking and writing. The tutor works from the phase named on the school report.

Schools choose their own unit topics and order, which is why lessons track the school's unit calendar and task sheets.
How lessons run
An MYP lesson plan follows the unit the class is in and the summative task waiting at its end. This is the usual rhythm.
The tutor starts with your child's recent criterion levels, teacher comments and current task sheet, then sets a short piece of work to find which strand of which criterion holds the grade down.
Every MYP unit ends in a summative assessment. The tutor maps the weeks until that date and sets lesson times in Qatar time, on Sunday to Thursday evenings or at the weekend.
Understanding comes first: why a rule works, why a variable must be controlled, why a writer picked one word. Then the tutor shows what the descriptor asks at the next level up and practises that.
Where the school uses eAssessment, practice moves to typed answers, plotted graphs, interactive data and timed extended writing, since the exams are taken on a computer. Command terms become automatic.
Practice work is marked against the level descriptors with your child watching, so they learn to judge their own answers. Parents receive short progress notes and are welcome to observe lessons.
Through Ramadan, lessons are rescheduled around the officially announced timings for that year.
The exam
Most MYP marks come from school tasks that teachers mark against the IB criteria in every year. In MYP year 5, schools may also enter students for the IB's optional eAssessment, taken on screen.

The IB holds on-screen exams in two sessions a year, May and November, and the school decides which one its students enter. Results arrive on 1 August for May and 1 February for November.
Each criterion is marked on eight achievement levels, and the four carry equal weight. Teachers turn the levels into a final grade from 1 to 7, the scale every eAssessment component uses too.
